Riesling Monastery 2023

One of the oldest documented vineyard sites in the Palatinate. The Bockenheim monastery estate: even the old monks of the monastery were aware of the excellent southern exposure of the slope and its unique geological features. A 30cm layer of loess loam forms the growing medium before the 68-year-old vines take root in the massive limestone cliffs below.

Back then, it was essential to obtain ripe grapes; nowadays, it takes considerable skill to conjure elegant Rieslings with great intensity and a distinctive structure from this historic vineyard. The harvest time is crucial and presents us with a challenge every year.

A wine with a lot of character and intensity, remaining true to the grape variety with high acidity and elegant fruit.
