Riesling Hill of Flags 2022
Our coolest Riesling vineyard, the Fahnenberg. It winds its way eastward along the slope at 220 meters. Directly upwind, the 68-year-old vines grow on pure loess, a very nutrient-rich topsoil. However, after 10-30 cm, the porous, soft limestone is already present, which profoundly influences the structure and fruit of this wine.
Long maceration periods of up to 7 days and over 12 months in used tonneaux give the structure along which this elegant and very precise Riesling meanders. Very linear and characterized by the limestone.
